thinking of you ~ SSSC 58 & PPA 31

It's Sunday, one of my favorite days of the week! It's a Curtain Call Color Challenge day...and a Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge day! Karen's SSSC #58 was just what I need to pair up with the Pals Paper Arts inspiration challenge, PPA31. The organic schemes reminded me of the colors Rose Red, Old Olive & Chocolate Chip.

I grabbed the Sweet Pea Stitched Felt package and selected three matching flowers & centers for the trio panel. These felt flowers are so cute and fun to use:) The Pretty in Pink card base was layered with Chocolate Chip & Sweet Pea DSP and wrapped with a strip of Old Olive grosgrain. The main Whisper White panel was embossed using the Perfect Polka Dots folder and adhered to a Pretty in Pink piece of cardstock. I've had the best results using Crystal Effects to adhere these felt flowers and pieces to my project. The sentiment tag was stamped with a greeting from Trendy Trees and adhered between the leaves & flower embellishment.

Stamps: Trendy Trees (sentiment)
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White CS, Sweet Pea DSP
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Other: Sweet Pea Stitched Felt, Crystal Effects, Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain, Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Folder

Embrace Life ~ Poppy Seed/Embellish/Free For All

It's always fun to find a new creative challenge...and this week, I found TWO of them...the Poppy Seed Challenge at Lisa Johnson's Poppy Paperie blog and the Free For All Challenge. I combined these two new challenges, Poppy Seed Challenge #1 which requires crystals, flower stamp, and light yellow...and Free For All #1 at Splitcoaststampers to use texture, one color that you rarely use, and patterned paper. The Embellish Color Challenge with Borders was also a MUST for this lively card, using the colors green, yellow, pink & peach.

Can you guess which color I haven't used in a LONG time? Groovy Guava was an In Color in 2008...the big shocker was that I found several sheets of this cardstock and a couple of sheets of designer series paper:)

How cute are the little crystals? They are from the new Eggcelent Eggs Kit in the Occasions Mini Catalog...and I'm thinking that I heard these crystals will be offered again...YAY!

I'm not very happy with the ribbon treatment...this skinny ribbon is a little more difficult to "poof" up:)

If you're in the mood for a new challenge, go check these out...you're sure to find some inspiration! Check back here tomorrow for a new Curtain Call Color Challenge...and a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT that you won't want to miss!

Stamps: Embrace Life
Paper: Groovy Guava (retired), Certainly Celery, Pixie Pink CS, Watercolor Paper, Shades of Spring & retired DSP
Ink: Black Stazon, Pixie Pink, So Saffron, Barely Banana & Sahara Sand Stampin' Write Markers

BIG NEWS WITH THE CURTAIN CALL COLOR CHALLENGE COMING SOON!!!

Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 18

This soothing color combination was inspired by the Potter's Choice Trivet at Antrhopologie. The floral earthenware was handcarved with a glossy finish of vivid greens and blues...so aquatic! I interpreted the colors as Stampin' Up!'s Night of Navy, Old Olive, Whisper White, Kraft & Ballet Blue.

Join us for the Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 18 and you could be one of next Show Stoppers to earn this badge!

To join us in the Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 18, simply create a papercrafted project using these colors (or similar shades), post it on your blog or other public gallery (Splitcoaststampers, Paper Craft Planet, Stampin' Addicts, etc.) using the keywords Curtain Call, link your posting back here to the Stamping Stage, and then come back to enter your name and the exact link to your project in the Mr. Linky box. You have until Saturday, February 27th before midnight (CST) to enter your Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 18 project.

Those who are chosen as Show Stoppers will be awarded the Show Stopper badge to post on their blog and share the exciting news! I will be picking more than one Show Stopper for every ten Curtain Call Color Challenge submissions!

Just For You

Today, I wish I would've had Night of Navy Craft ink so that my images would be darker...I guess some new Craft ink colors need to go on my next Stampin' Up! order if I'm going to be stamping on DSP more often:)

I randomly stamped using two different images from the True Friend stamp set onto Bella Bleu DSP with the Night of Navy ink, then attached some of those fabulous Ice Circle Rhinestone brads through the centers of the larger images. The Ballet Blue cardstock was punched with the Scallop Trim punch and adhered behind the main panel. The card base is Kraft cardstock with some retired Old Olive DSP covering the card front. The Old Olive grosgrain ribbon was wrapped around the entire card front and tied in a bow...then the sentiment stamped in Night of Navy with the Oval All stamp set was punched out using the Scallop Oval punch. After prying the brad prongs apart and popping the stones out, a little more bling was added to the sentiment tag with Mini Glue Dots.

Stamps: True Friend, Oval All
Paper: Kraft, Ballet Blue CS, Bella Bleu & retired DSP
Ink: Night of Navy
Other: Ice Circle Rhinestone Brads, Mat Pack & Paper Piercing Tool, Scallop Trim & Scallop Oval Punches, Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain

Happy Moments ~ JUGS 21 & FTL79

It's rare these days that I have time in the evening to create two cards, but I guess tonight was my lucky night! I jotted down these two challenges a few days ago...the Just Us Girls Color Challenge #21 (Raspberry, Ivory, Chocolate & Coral and the Fall-To Layout #79 at Clean & Simple.

Lately, I'm finding it more difficult to create clean & simple designs...I'm really liking all the extras:) My card seemed a little plain, so I had to add a little stitching with the sewing machine. Oh, how I'm loving my sewing machine these days...such an easy wow!

Until next time....happy stamping!

Stamps: Happy Moments
Paper: Cameo Coral, Rich Razzleberry, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White CS, Razzleberry Lemonade DSP

Asian Artistry ~ MTSC 62 & CTD 81

Two of my favorite challenges were used for this card today...Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #62 and the Color Throwdown #81 using Old Olive, Pretty in Pink/White & Chocolate Chip.

I inked up the images with my Stampin' Write Markers before stamping on the white cardstock. I just love the organic yet watercolored look of this Asian Artistry stamp set....so versatile with many color schemes.

A Spring Day ~ Cracked Glass

I just found out today that THIS CARD was picked as the favorite at The Pink Elephant for Sketch Challenge #50...Woohoo! To celebrate, I had to try the new sketch, The Pink Elephant Sketch Challenge #55!

Another demonstrator asked me recently to demonstrate a technique at an area stamping event in March, so I've been looking and practicing with a few techniques. Tonight, I thought I'd encorporate one of my new favorite techniques, Cracked Glass, for Our Creative Corner's Try a New Technique Challenge. Click HERE to view the tutorial and video at Splitcoaststampers...it helped me a ton!
