Groovy Birthday & Tutorial

To celebrate Release Day at Taylored Expressions, I created a card using one of the new sets, Feelin' Groovy, with a tutorial on distressed & stitched edges. I love this technique because it is SO easy to do and yet creates such great texture and appeal.

First, rough up the edges of the designer paper or cardstock using a distressing tool as little or as much as desired. If you do not have a distressing tool, the edge of your fingernail can work wonders, too!

Next, apply ink directly from the ink pad to the edges that have been to create some depth and somewhat of an aged look. Ink may also be applied to the edges of your paper using a sponge or dauber.

Finally, the sewing machine comes in handy to sew a quick zig-zag stitch around the edge.

I hope you are inspired to add a little distressing and stitching to your projects today! Thanks for stopping by:)

Love this look! You little groovy car is adorable. As an "older" citizen, I remember those flower power beetles! Thanks for your great instructions on the edges too. I'll need to try that!
