Up, Up & Away

My son's 2nd grade teacher just finished up a Master's in Teaching program and I wanted to make a special card for her to celebrate this awesome accomplishment! I remember when I finished up my Master's Degree with two active boys and one on the way in 2004...it was a juggle, to say the least...and I TOTALLY appreciate the effort of another working mom who is not only raising a family, but growing professionally. Congrats, Mrs. Heubner!

The colors on my card were inspired by the ColourQ Color Challenge #31 using Crushed Curry, Brilliant Blue, Tempting Turquoise, Certainly Celery & White. If you happen to want to play along at the ColourQ Color Challenge for the first time this week, let Arielle know I sent you and we'll both be in the drawing for a PRIZE. The layout of my card was inspired by the fabulous Viva La Verve May Week 1 sketch over at Splitcoaststampers. Debbie's Shabby Tea Room Challenge Week #8 "Get Your Bling On" calls for a little bling, so I cracked open some of that glitter I've been hoarding:)

I stamped the hot air balloon image with Brilliant Blue ink on the Whisper White cardstock, then again on a piece of Certainly Celery patterned paper, cut out the balloon portion and adhered it over the main image for a dimensional effect. It needed a little somethin' somethin', so I added some Fine Supernova glitter to the big dots...just the right sparkle:)

It's Hump Day...woo hoo!

Stamps: Up, Up & Away (Verve)
Paper: Certainly Celery, Tempting Turquoise, Brilliant Blue, Whisper White CS, Flock Together, Island Oasis, and (retired) Jersey Shore DSP
Ink: Brilliant Blue Classic Ink Pad, Tempting Turquoise Stampin' Write Marker
Other: Crushed Curry Polka Dot Grosgrain, Sherbet Designer Buttons, Linen Thread, Scallop Trim Punch, Color Spritzer, Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive, Fine Supernova Glitter
