Extreme Birthday
I made a second card for my son Ben. His birthday is tomorrow and my mom requested a handmade card to give him. This is what I came up with for my big boy that will turn 8 tomorrow...so hard to believe that he's getting so big!
I combined two challenges for my card tonight...the Color Throwdown #86 using Yoyo Yellow with optional Basic Black, Garden Green & Soft Suede and Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #67.
The Extreme Elements stamp set is such a fun one for kid cards...for both boys and girls! I love pairing it up with the Skateboarder for my little guys:) I was looking through my border punches thinking that they were too frilly/girly...then it dawned on me that I had the Spiral punch!
Now I'm off to bake cupcakes:) Have a great night, folks!
Stamps: Skateboarder, Extreme Elements, On Your Birthday
Paper: Soft Suede, Basic Black, Garden Green, Yoyo Yellow, Whisper White CS, Night & Day and Flock Together DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Soft Suede, Yoyo Yellow, Garden Green
Other: Black Striped Grosgrain, Basic Jumbo Grommets, Star & Spiral Punch, Big Shot, Texture Plates Kit #4, Stars Die

Happy Birthday Ben!
My son, Ben, will turn 8 on Thursday...no April fools! He thinks he's getting too old for the little cutesy cards, so I had to think "big boy" for this one:)
The Autumn Meadows DSP was just what I needed for a rugged and tattered look for my big boy. The bicycle image from the Just Riding set, and the sentiment from All Holidays were inked up in Chocolate Chip then stamped onto one of the patterns from the DSP pack.. a little collage stamping was also added using the Extreme Elements set.
Notice the book print strip...our school was getting rid of some old books today, so I grabbed one that I could use for card scraps. I cut a small piece and added Creamy Caramel ink to paper to add to the distressed look of the card, then attached a couple of the Jumbo Chocolate Chip brads to finish it off. To finish it all off, I distressed the edges using the Cutter Kit.
We'll be baking cupcakes for Ben to take to school on Thursday, so I may not have a chance to create and post a project tomorrow night...but Spring Break starts Friday and hopefully that means LOTS of stamping time for me:)
Stamps: Just Riding, All Holidays, Extreme Elements
Paper: Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Taken with Teal CS, Autumn Meadows DSP
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, Taken with Teal
Other: Jumbo Brads, Mat Pack & Paper Piercing Tool, Cutter Kit, book print (non-SU)

My mom's birthday was today and I gave her this card that I made earlier in the month, but I still have birthdays on the brain...so here ya go! My little guy, Ben, will celbrate his 8th birthday on Thursday...so I'll be doing a little more birthday creating again this week. Aren't birthdays so much fun!?!
I was able to combine three challenges for this card today...Kazan's Sketch #49 at 2Sketches 4 You (gotta love those sketchy girls:), the Color Challenge #60 at The Pink Elephant requiring PASTELS, and Kelly Jo's Color Chef Challenge #45 with white, light purple, light green, and light pink.

friend to friend ~ Stencil Surprise
I made this card for Shelli Gardner's Stencil Surprise Challenge at her blog, So Shelli. This was my first attempt at using the Stampin' Up! Decor Stencils...and I think I'm already addicted to them. What a "WOW" feeling when you lift the stencil after inking it up...very cool!
Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #62 and Rachel's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge #52 were just the layout and color inspiration that I needed to get started.
I knew the card would be fairly bright when I was done, but you may have wished you had your sunglasses on before viewing it...LOL! I definately had fun with this one. My friend, Libby, and I got together today to inspire, create, and share...basically we made a big FUN mess:)
Happy Sunday:)

See Beyond
For this card tonight, the Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge #106 was a great match-up to the Just Add Ink #10, which is a color challenge using Close to Cocoa, Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom & Kraft. I love the soft color combination! It's difficult to see, but I did stitch along the bottom portion to create a trio panel effect...must start using darker thread on prints like this.

Ink: Close to Cocoa, Cameo Coral, Blush Blossom Stampin' Write Markers

Awash With Flowers
This vibrant color palette along with the floral inspiration gave the chance to pull out my brand new two-step stamping set, Awash With Flowers, which is a sneak-peek set from the new Stampin' Up! catalog coming out this summer. The set will be available in both wood mount and cling mount for customer purchase on April 1st.
I used Basic Black ink to stamp the outline images, then alternated the red, pink and yellow to stamp the solid images. The Square Fire Rhinestone Brads were placed in the flower centers to give a little extra pop, but the real "wow" for me is that yummy wide red ribbon! Oh, what would I do without ribbon, buttons & brads?
Stamps: Awash With Flowers, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Yoyo Yellow, Pink Passion, Whisper White CS, Nouveau Chic DSP & Petal Party SSK
Ink: Yoyo Yellow, Pink Passion, Real Red, Certainly Celery, Basic Black
Other: 1" Stitched Real Red Grosgrain, Square Fire Rhinestone Brads, Paper Piercer, Scallop Edge Punch

Blossom
I've been wanting to play around with fabric again since I made my Shamrock card for Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 21...and I've had my eye on this FUN challenge at Embellish magazine, called Embellish Color Challenge with Fabric using red, green, blue & kraft PLUS fabric, of course. I noticed that tonight was the deadline to get my card submitted, so after dinner, I headed up to my stamp room and this is the result! I used Alice's Bonus Sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You for inspiration of my layout and I think it totally works! Oh,and Verve is having a March Parade of Projects to inspire you to have "Fun with Flowers."
The fabric was die-cut using the Scallop Square, gathered by hand and stitched with the sewing machine. I wrapped some yummy Real Red Polka Dot Grosgrain around the gathered fabric before placing my main image over the top.
Stamps: Spring Blossoms (Verve)
Paper: Kraft, Night of Navy, Real Red, Whisper White CS
Ink: Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, Night of Navy, Bordering Blue Stampin' Write Markers
Other: Scallop Square Bigz Die, Big Shot, Real Red Polka Dot Grosgrain, Playground Designer Buttons, Linen Thread, Oval/Scallop Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders)
