Friend ~ CCMC112

Today is the OFFICIAL first day of school for us! It's hard to believe that our summer break is over and that I'm sending Noah to 5th grade, Ben to 3rd grade and Hannah to kindergarten.

My card today was inspired by the Create with Connie & Mary color challenge #112 using some FABULOUS colors...Pacific Point, Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight & Basic Black...AWESOME! Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #87 was the perfect match-up to the beautiful color scheme.

I inked up the gorgeous floral image with Wild Wasabi & Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write Markers. The Pacific Point card base was layered with a couple of DSP panels, wrapped with Daffodil Delight grosgrain that was tied into a full bow, then the circlular image panel was adhered over the top as a focal point. Finally, the trio of brads on a DSP panel and the crystal pins were added to finish it up.

Thanks for stopping by! Head on over to Create with Connie & Mary and give those beautiful colors a try:) Have a goodie!

Cute as a Bug ~ Embellish Babies Color Challenge & MTSC80

I paired up two challenges for my card today...the Embellish Babies Color Challenge using yellow, cream, peach & green, along with Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #80.

A great combination of challenges:)

The layering of the card was done with alternating cardstock and designer paper. My stamp-a-majig came in handy with the stacked bugs and the sentiment. The dragonfly was stamped then handcut and adhered with a dimensional.

Stamps: Bugs & Kisses
Paper: So Saffon, Very Vanilla, Peach Parfait, Pear
Ink: So Saffron, Pear, Peach Parfait, Soft Suede
Other: Stamp-a-majig, Scallop Edge Punch, Mat Pack & Paper Piercing Tool, Rich Regals Brads, Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon, Linen Thread, Nestabilities (Spellbinders), button (PTI)

Here For You

It's super late, but after I watched Edge of Darkness with Mel Gibson, I couldn't sleep! The best thing for me to do when I can't sleep is read or stamp, so I decided to make a card (typically my favorite choice).

Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #78 was just the right layout for my card (to use another one of those darling poofy flowers), and Arielle's ColourQ Challenge #37 has a gorgeous color combination that I couldn't resist...Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, Apricot Appeal, Always Artichoke, and Very Vanilla. The Got You Cornered challenge over at Our Creative Corner is a great reminder to add embellishments to the corners of your project....go check it out:)

I inked up the flower and the sentiment in Old Olive Craft ink, added Clear Embossing Powder, and heat set them. The poofy flower is 6 Scallop Circles stamped with the En Frances background stamp, color spritzed, and crumpled into the middle. After i spread the scallops back out somewhat, I placed a Button Bouquet button laced with Linen Thread in the center of the flower. These are so fun and easy to make...and they always turn out differently, but perfectly:)

Hope you're having a great week, peeps! Go try one of those poofy flowers for yourself...you'll love making it:)

Stamps: Friends 24-7, En Frances
Paper: Apricot Appeal, Cameo Coral, Ruby Red, Always Artichoke CS, To the Nines Specialty & Autumn Meadows DSP
Ink: Old Olive Craft, Always Artichoke Classic, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral & Apricot Appeal Stampin' Write Markers
Other: Color Spritzer, Old Orchard Designer Ribbon, Button Bouquet Buttons, Linen Thread, Scallop Circle & Eyelet Border Punches, Rich Regals & Earth Elements Brads, Mat Pack & Paper Piercing Tool, sewing machine/thread

hello ~ Embellish & Mercy's Sketch #68

I hadn't inked up this fun little set called Forest Friends since the fall, so I dusted him off and encorporated a little stamp with marker technique. I inked up the images with Sage Shadow, Sahara Sand & Pretty In Pink, then hand cut the bunny and butterfly to attach for a dimensional look. The butterfly and sentiment come from a different little set called Hello Again.

I paired up a couple of challenges that really get me thinking outside of the box...the Embellish Color Challenge with Stitching using Light Aqua, Kraft & Light Pink and Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #68.

The vertical panels behind the main nestie-cut image were stitched with the sewing machine. Before it was all said and done, it needed a little embellishing, so I added pink brads, some narrow Sage Shadow grosgrain with a Pink Pirouette button laced with Linen Thread.

Stamps: Forest Friends, Hello Again
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Pink Pirouette, Kraft, Whisper White CS, To the Nines and retired DSP
Ink: Sage Shadow, Sahara Sand & Pretty in Pink
Other: Button Bouquet (retired), Sage Shadow 1/4" Grosgrain, Linen Thread, Circle/Scallop Circle Nestibilities
Techniques: Stamp with Marker, Sewing

Extreme Birthday

I made a second card for my son Ben. His birthday is tomorrow and my mom requested a handmade card to give him. This is what I came up with for my big boy that will turn 8 tomorrow...so hard to believe that he's getting so big!

I combined two challenges for my card tonight...the Color Throwdown #86 using Yoyo Yellow with optional Basic Black, Garden Green & Soft Suede and Mercy's Tuesday Sketch Challenge #67.

The Extreme Elements stamp set is such a fun one for kid cards...for both boys and girls! I love pairing it up with the Skateboarder for my little guys:) I was looking through my border punches thinking that they were too frilly/girly...then it dawned on me that I had the Spiral punch!

Now I'm off to bake cupcakes:) Have a great night, folks!

Stamps: Skateboarder, Extreme Elements, On Your Birthday
Paper: Soft Suede, Basic Black, Garden Green, Yoyo Yellow, Whisper White CS, Night & Day and Flock Together DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Soft Suede, Yoyo Yellow, Garden Green

I finally inked up this darling little bunny...wow! The magic really happens when he is clear embossed onto Chocolate Chip cardstock...looks like the real thing:)
